WORSHIP SERVICES

Sabbath Services are held Friday evenings at 8:00 p.m. The first Friday
of each month is a Family Service with a story instead of a sermon.

Festival and Holy Day services are held throughout the year. Tickets are
not required for High Holy Day services, so congregants are always free
to bring family members and unaffiliated Jews wishing to celebrate are
also welcome. Temple Beth Am has traditionally hosted a Community
Congregational Seder on the second night of Passover, and joins with
other local Jewish religious and community organizations in celebrating
other holiday festivals.

Services are conducted by our rabbi, Gordon Gladstone. He is assisted
by cantorial soloists and members of the congregation.

                      RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

Temple Beth Am provides a complete program of religious education for
children and adults.  Our religious school for children is held jointly with
with Temple Beth El, the Reform congregation of Jersey City. The
program begins with children in kindergarten, and continues through
Confirmation. Our goal is to develop well-informed, practicing Reform
Jews who are grounded in the moral and ethical values of Judaism. and
strengthening Jewish identity, our religious school curriculum stresses
Hebrew, Jewish history, Israel and Jewish customs and ceremonies.
Rabbis of both congregations teach in the combined Religious School,
and each prepares his own congregation’s Bnai Mitzvah.

Adult education programs are conducted annually by Rabbi Gladstone.
An omnibus adult education program has been a tremendous success
with our congregation and meets weekly at the Temple. Rabbi
Gladstone also provides instruction in Hebrew to adults
